Today we learned about two things: church and change.
I think I speak for the entire team when I say that we absolutely loved seeing the way the Salvadorans in this community worship our wonderful God. This was our first time spending a Sunday here and we were able to truly experience the presence of God during a time of worship. We heard the perspectives and testimonies of people in the community and how God continues to bless his people. After service, the pastor stopped me and told me that he believed in our ministry, that we will be strong, and that people will come to us knowing that we were sent by God. It is refreshing to know that we are making even a small impact and being a light in the community.
Looking back on the day, our team adjusted very well as our plans completely changed from what we had scheduled. Originally we were supposed to have a scenic hike and dinner at the top of a volcano, but instead we ended up having to tie up some loose ends with the construction on Amparo's house. We were able to add in the supporting beams that will hold up the roof which will be set into place tomorrow. The entire team, as well as Amparo's family, signed our names in the cement as a remembrance of the work we have accomplished together!
In our down time, a few of us girls spent a long time playing with the kiddies who have completely stolen my heart. We played musical chairs so much that I should be an expert by now. It really brightened my day see the joy in their faces and I can't wait to spend the entire day with them on Wednesday at VBS.
